NEWS MODULES APP CONFIGURATION TEMPLATE TOOL
Overview
The News Modules App Configuration Template Tool is a Figma template to scope and spec customer solutions on the News Modules Platform. Each customer gets their own file, which is collaborated on and used for project scope and alignment of features and customization. The configuration template started as an Adobe Xd project, but has since then been rebuild in Figma. The template file has improved the process of onboarding customers and has provided a common ground between Visiolink and the customer.

Configuration Alignment
The most important aspect of the template tool was the alignment between the Figma file and the configurations possibilities on the News Modules platform. To avoid complications in the development process there has been several iterations of insights from developers to ensure a 1:1 between configuration possibilities in the Figma file and the platform.

Centralized Configuration
To ensure efficiency and alignment a centralized configuration process was created. This allows for the possibilities to adjust configurations from one place which will have an effect multiple places on the platform. An example of this is setting the order of modules on the front page, which is done from one place in the template file. Since the modules have visual differences across iOS, Android, phone and tablet devices variants of each module has been setup to reflect the generic code.

Styling, Customizing and Assets
During the specification of the customer project choices are being made in terms of font, colors, content and assets. These choices and elements are stored in the template file and is afterwards used as a central environment for elements needed for the customer solution. This allows developers to easy inspect and download assets for easier implementation of the final solution.
